This issues the receipt for a payment against an electrical invoice. It takes the invoice total, what was received today and how, what had been paid before, and the card processing fee you absorb, and returns the amount received, the balance remaining, the total paid to date and, for card payments, the fee taken and the net that reaches your account. A receipt is the customer's record that they paid and your record of what the payment actually netted.
A receipt is not an invoice marked paid
An invoice says what is owed; a receipt says what was received, when, and how. Customers keep receipts for warranty claims, insurance and their own books, and a receipt that names the method and the balance remaining answers the question before it is asked. The page prints all three.
Card fees are a cost of getting paid today
A card payment on site is money in the account tonight instead of a check in three weeks, and the processing fee is the price of that. The page shows the fee at the rate you enter and the net that lands, so you can see what same-day payment costs and decide whether to pass the fee on where your state allows it.
Partial payments need a running balance
A deposit at signing, a progress payment at rough-in and a final on inspection are three receipts against one invoice. Carrying the amount paid before today and printing the balance remaining on each receipt is what keeps the customer and your books agreeing on what is left.
